Laura joined the HR Team as an administrator covering maternity leave. With a background in Learning and Development it was not long before her talent for training presented itself and she secured a role as the Learning and Development Coordinator. As well as coordinating the professional development and onboarding for all our colleagues, Laura is the first person that new starters will meet at their induction. A warm welcome indeed! Before joining Lifetime Laura travelled across Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia where ‘Live Forever’ by Oasis became her favourite song.
Everyone works hard but enjoys what they do, making it a really great working environment
I was attracted to working at Lifetime as I thought that it looked like a good company to progress up the career ladder and it seemed to have a lot of opportunities available.
The people; 100%. I have never worked for a company with so many like-minded people. This is also the reason for Lifetime being so successful in what we do.
My role is all about multi-tasking. My typical day can range from running our company inductions, to coordinating onboarding plans or working with managers within different departments on different projects. I also get to support on different training workshops – giving me real insight into how we develop our employees and the benefits of upskilling our teams.
I started as a HR Administrator on a nine month maternity contract, this contract then got extended to 12 months. With the twelfth month approaching and with my maternity cover due to be returning to work I started to look at other options within Lifetime as I did not want to leave the company. Luckily for me I was offered a promotion within a new role in the HR Team – Learning and Development Coordinator and I have been loving the role so far.
I believe my role contributes to the success of Lifetime as our people are what makes us. Without the proper training when starting and without the proper development and upskilling we would not have the team that we have today. I may only play a small part in this but I believe what I do counts.
Hard work and enjoying what you do. We all work unbelievably hard at Lifetime and at an extremely fast pace to keep up with changes and making improvements. Lifetimers are happy to do this because we enjoy what we do – the combination of both can take you far within Lifetime.
I would say achieving an 87% response rate on our BeHEARD employee engagement survey was a major achievement as I had to turn the project around in a short time frame. Not to mention our response rate last year was 85% so we managed to increase it by a further 2% even though our employee headcount has grown.
I have a strong support network around me including; my manager, my team and also the teams I work closely with. Lifetime encourages us to come up with innovative ideas and ways of making improvement or adjustments to make us better at what we do. Employees have a voice here and we are given the opportunity to make a difference.

The main challenge would be our rate of employee growth which has had an impact on myself and others around me. We have managed to all work together to implement plans and schedules to make it work and to make sure our new Lifetimers get the best experience when starting with the company.
Fast, tough, manic to name a few…..but also fun, rewarding and working at Lifetime also makes me proud to say what I do.
The culture at Lifetime is very much you get what you give. If you are willing to go that extra mile for someone they will most likely do it for you in return. Building those strong trusted relationships with your peers really helps you go a long way in to getting things done!
We are not afraid to make changes and we are definitely “Yes” people when it comes to finding solutions and making improvements. If we have a good idea we run with it straight away.
